Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino gambling is not legal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect spot, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are apparently required to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that contains many comforts aside from the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
