There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling den betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel building that contains many comforts on top of the gambling den, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight tables.
